The Township of Union is located in north-central Union County. It is traversed by a network of local and regional roadways including the Garden State Parkway, Interstate 78, US Route 22, and State Route 82 (Morris Avenue). The Union County municipalities of Elizabeth, Hillside, Springfield, Kenilworth, and Roselle Park, and the Essex County communities of Irvington, Maplewood, and Millburn border the Township.

Change in location of the Elizabeth Social Security Office**
Beginning Monday, August 23, 2010, the Elizabeth Social Security office will open their new Social Security office at 855 Lehigh Ave, Union NJ 07083. The previous office at 547 Morris Ave, Elizabeth NJ closed permanently on Friday, August 20, 2010. The phone number for the new office remains (877) 803-6306.

Many services are also available by using Social Security’s national, toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213 or (1-800-325-0778 TTY). Automated attendant services are available from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Information and services also are available online at www.socialsecurity.gov. Visitors can find up-to-date information, download publications, file an application or arrange for other services in our easy-to-use, secure and convenient website.

The Township of Union Police Department reminds citizens to be aware of seasonal home improvement scams. Deal only with businesses you know. Never let anyone you do not know into your home. Alert police of individuals going door to door without a permit.

On September 10 the township of union will be holding a flag ceremony to honor those that lost their lives in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Please join us at 7pm for a flag exchange ceremony done by the Union High School JR. ROTC. 7:15pm will begin a ceremony including music poems and tributes to those who lost their lives from our community. Join us for this moving tribute to those lost on September 11th. Residents are asked to arrive prior to 7pm as the ceremony will begin promptly at 7pm.

September 11th Memorial:
A flag ceremony will be held on Sept. 10th to honor those that lost their lives in the tragic events of 9/11/01. Ceremony will begin promptly at 7pm in front of Town Hall. Union High School Jr. ROTC will participate in the flag exchange ceremony.
