[ARCHIVED] UNION BEGINS INSTALLATION OF SPEED SIGNS, PART OF MAYOR’S S.P.E.E.D 2022 INITIATIVE

The first of many new speed signs was installed on Whitewood Road, near Washington School to remind motorists to slow down. The speed signs are part of Mayor Manuel Figueiredo's aggressive public safety road initiative called S.P.E.E.D. 2022. The speed signs, in addition to new pedestrian signage, and crosswalk lines throughout town, are directed toward increasing pedestrian safety and reducing motor vehicle speeding.

"Our Administration, along with Union Police, are doing everything to slow down reckless drivers – through enforcement, education, and engineering – to create safer streets," said Mayor Figueiredo. "If you are speeding, driving aggressively, and putting people's lives in danger, you will be pulled over and get a ticket."

In the upcoming week, a total of 14 new speed signs will be installed in the locations below.
