On Monday, July 27, The Union County Advisory Council on Aging held a countywide celebration of the Older Americans Act’s 50th Anniversary. The Older Americans Act (OAA), passed during the President Johnson administration, supports a range of home and community-based services, such as meals-on-wheels and other nutrition programs, in-home services, transportation, legal services, elder abuse prevention and caregivers support. These programs help seniors stay as independent as possible in their homes and communities.
The celebration was hosted in Township Senior Center located at 968 Bonnel Court. Along with our Township Committee, the U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker, State Senator Raymond Lesniak, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, Assemblyman Jamel Holley, Union County Freeholders, Sheriff Joseph Cryan, and Director of Senior Services, Phyllis Monguso were in attendance.
The event is sponsored by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
