The Committee and Administration of the Township of Union wishes to express its deepest condolences to the family of Al Liotta, formerly of the Township of Union, who passed on December 16th, 2015 after a long and prosperous life.
The Committee of the Township of Union recognizes that Al’s passing will be deeply felt and will leave a void heavy on the hearts of those who knew him. A true leader, his legacy and work in the Township of Union won’t soon be forgotten.
Liotta, who turned 98 on Dec. 6, was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a graduate of the Columbia school of Business. He is famed for also having studied hypnosis under “The Amazing Kreskin.” He was a staunch Democrat and World War II veteran who served as former president of the Township of Union area Democratic Club.
Al was also a successful businessman, founding a chain of auto part stores in New Jersey named Rocket Auto. His passion, however, remained with the public and social work even holding the position of Director of Personnel for the Union County Welfare Department.
Al moved to Florida in 2003 after he retired from the business world. He lived in Juno Beach and then, in 2008, moved to Palm Beach Gardens where he would live out the rest of his life. He volunteered for a decade there as a legal mediator at the Palm Beach County courthouse.
Al was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary- Former Clerk of the Township of Union, and is survived by his son, Ray; daughter, Linda, and his granddaughter, Karsen. He is remembered as a wonderful father, husband, and friend.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Committee and residents of the Township of Union hold Al Liotta forever in their memory for his tireless dedication and true visionary leadership, and offer their sincerest condolences to his family, friends and those who knew him.
