As the weather starts to break, the Township of Union will be continuing its annual “Operation Clean Sweep” program, dedicated to beautifying and maintaining the cleanliness of the Town. After a successful cleanup of our Parks on May 21st township officials have added a second “Clean Sweep” event, to take place on Saturday, July 9th at 8:00 a.m. in the Vauxhall section of town.

“What I love about this yearly event is the spirit of togetherness that we experience when we gather and work with our neighbors to maintain the vibrance of our parks,” said Mayor Manuel Figueiredo. “Not only is there a real tangible and physical benefit to this event, but a real sense of pride in knowing that you are doing your part to ensure that our town continues to shine.”

After signing with the Department of Public Works at Municipal Lot #23, between Russell St. and Montclair Ave, participants will be dispatched to different areas along Springfield Avenue, pre-identified by the Department, to clean the Township of littler and debris.

For additional information on “Operation Clean Sweep” or to pre-register, please contact the Township of Union Department of Public Works at 908-686-1922. Pre-Registration is required by July 1st.

“Operation Clean Sweep” is part of the Clean Communities Program, funded by a Clean Communities Grant. The NJ Clean Communities Program is a comprehensive, statewide litter-abatement program that has served NJ Residents and visitors for over 25 years.
