Hello Union, this is Mayor Suzette Cavadas with a winter weather update.
Our Department of Public Works has been out combatting the severe weather since 5:00 am when they began their salting operations, until 8:00am when the plows started hitting the streets.
38 plow units were deployed and will continue throughout the day.
With temperatures remaining below the freezing mark we ask residents to stay off the roads, and also to avoid tossing snow into the street as you shovel your properties.
Once the snow ceases, our DPW will continue their salting operations to help combat ice from forming. Throwing snow into the street is counterproductive, and increases the likelihood of ice forming.
Remember to stay safe, check on your neighbors, and only travel if absolutely necessary.
