[ARCHIVED] Important Construction Notice

Please be advised an Intercounty Paving representative has just come to my office to discuss the imminent paving operation on Route 22. The particulars are as follows:
1. They are beginning Monday night, 9/15/14
2. Project essentially is a milling and paving operation, full width
3. They are beginning at Fairway Drive and moving in the west bound lanes first
4. They will probably take about 2 to 3 weeks to complete the portion in Union
5. They will continue through Springfield and Mountainside and then swing back east
6. They will return to Union after completing their work in Springfield and Mountainside (approximately 2 months) and then complete Union Township moving east
7. Detours will be set nightly as required, work begins at 9 PM with the traffic being diverted into one lane
8. Construction traffic required to be off roads by 6:00 AM

A traffic plan with emergency contact information is being forwarded to me very soon. Upon receipt I shall send it to each of you. I do not know why there was no preconstruction conference for this project or earlier notification of the project beginning. Please plan accordingly for the next few months should the need to utilize Route 22 arise for any emergency situation at night. There is the potential for weekend night work as well.
