[ARCHIVED] Union Health Dept to Host Colorectal Cancer Education & Screening Event

Mayor Cavadas and the Township Committee along with the Mayor's Wellness Committee and the Union Health Department invite residents to participate in our Colorectal Cancer Education and Screening Day on Fri, March 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Vauxhall Community Meeting Hall on Russell St. in Vauxhall.

“We’re happy to host this event in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month,” said Suzette Cavadas, Mayor. “It’s important to understand that with the right education, Colorectal Cancer is identifiable and moreover - preventable.”

As a part of the event, there will be a presentation by the Union County Office of Health Management titled, "Colorectal Cancer: Preventable, Beatable, Treatable" as well as various screenings including glucose testing and blood pressure testing. There will also be colorectal cancer screening kits available for distribution.

For those eligible for cost free services (NJCEED Consultation) there will be clinical breast exams, mammography and pap tests referrals, and prostate screenings. Free flu shots will also be available for the first 100 participants three years of age or older.
