The Township of Union Recreation Department is proud to bring back their Movies Under the Stars for its fourth year. Held at Rabkin Park, the Movies draw residents from the far reaches of town, and provide a one of a kind source of family entertainment.

“Going to the movies is a great all-American past time,” said Mayor Suzette Cavadas. “The Township’s Movies in the Park combine everything we love about movie nights with the beautiful weather that comes with the warmer months.”

The first movie, The Emoji Movie, will be held on Friday, June 15th at 8:45 p.m.

This animated comedy takes place in Textopolis, a world inside a smartphone that's inhabited by various emojis. There, an emoji named Gene (voiced by T.J. Miller) is ashamed that he has multiple facial expressions while his colleagues only have one each, and he embarks on a quest to be like everyone else. James Corden, Anna Faris, Jennifer Coolidge, Patrick Stewart, and Maya Rudolph also lend their voices to this film from Sony Pictures Animation.

Movies are open to the public and are free of charge to attend. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 7:30 p.m., and the movie begins at 8:45 p.m.; blankets and chairs are welcome. Free popcorn will be provided and local food trucks will be present vending food and refreshments.

Stay tuned to the Township of Union on Facebook or on the web at uniontownship.com for information on the second movie, Disney’s Coco, to be shown during Mayor’s weekend in September.
