[ARCHIVED] Shakespeare in the Park Returns to Union July 25

DSC_0690

We are pleased to announce that Shakespeare in the Park will return to Rabkin Park on Wednesday, July 25, from 7 to 8 p.m., with "Something Shakespeare This Way Comes."

The 90-minute comedy show, performed by the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, will feature a collage of scenes from Shakespeare's classic works.

"Shakespeare has not only inspired countless writers, but his contributions to the English language and literature cannot be overstated," Mayor Cavadas said. "I am extremely happy that we can collaborate with the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey to bring this wonderful show highlighting some of his best works to our community."

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is one of 25 professional theatres in the state but the only one dedicated to Shakespeare and his works. The theatre has earned several accolades, including being named the "Regional Theatre of the Year" in 2002 and 2006 by The Star-Ledger. The theatre not only puts on many productions, it also manages education programs as it strives to shine light on the lasting relevance of Shakespeare's classics.
