The Township of Union Recreation Department hosted our 2018 Rec on Wheels kick off celebration yesterday, July 16th at Rabkin Park, 1 Swanstrom Place, celebrating it's second year of outdoor activities, popular and traditional games at various local parks throughout the Township.
"After the success of the program last year, I am excited that Rec on Wheels is back to give kids a chance to stay active and have fun this summer before they get busy with school," Mayor Cavadas said. "As a parent, one of the things I am most proud of is the Township's commitment and investment in our youth and Rec on Wheels is only one testament of that."
After the kick-off, the eight-day active summer program for kids will continue on the following dates from 6 to 7:30 p.m.: Tuesday, July 17 at Joe Collins Park, 1150 Liberty Ave.; Wednesday, July 18 at Sgt. Herbert E. Davis Park, 940 Arcadia Place; Thursday, July 19 at Jerome Petti Park, 499 Bailey Ave.; Monday, July 23 at Andrew St. Park, 1670 Andrew St. N.; Tuesday, July 25 at Biertuempfel Park, 1300 Winslow Ave.; Monday, July 30 at Kolb Park, 350 Roseland Place; and Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Friberger Park, 1976 Morris Ave.
Rec on Wheels is an outreach attempt to make families aware of how important it is to keep children physically active during the summer and also make parents aware of the recreational opportunities that are being offered in the community.
