Last Saturday, Union’s Special Improvement District hosted their annual Shop and Eat Local event in recognition of “Small Business Saturday.” The event promoted the small businesses in Union’s Special Improvement District and featured a series of ribbon cuttings for businesses new to the corridor.
“We’re so proud to see the faith and investment displayed by new and existing business owners in the Center,” said Suzette Cavadas, Mayor. “We wish them continues success and encourage our residents to come out and check out all they have to offer.”
There were four grand/re-openings which included a ribbon cutting for each business. The four businesses were:

Jammed Up Bakery, located on 1019 Stuyvesant Ave, is the newest addition to the Center. Owned by the proprietors of Van Gogh’s Ear Café, the location brings their idea of a cookie-centric bakery to life. Cricket Wireless, located at 1001 Stuyvesant Ave, is a friendly, affordable wireless company ready to offer quality coverage for new and existing customers.

The Union Center Special Improvement District performs supplemental services while implementing, sponsoring, and coordinating marketing and promotional events for the District. Their main priority is to restore and beautify the Center.
