Join Union Center Special Improvement District on March 10th as they celebrate Women’s History Month with welcoming Sharlee Jeter, co-author of The Stuff, to the Center. This is an open panel discussion along with a book signing. The event will take place at DAVA Latin Fusion, located at 1020 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, NJ, from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

“We are thrilled to be have Sharlee Jeter at the Center, she is truly an inspiration to all. This is an amazing opportunity for women to come together to empower one another. They will be able to network, discuss topics that we as women, find most important and ultimately learn how to overcome life’s obstacles,” said Fatimah Raymond, Union Center SID Director.

At the age of 21, Sharlee Jeter was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. Although she was undergoing chemotherapy, giving into cancer was not an option. Jeter continued to attend school during her treatments. She won her battle with cancer and received her Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics. She is now the President of the Turn 2 Foundation, a foundation that was established by her baseball legend brother, Derek Jeter, which helps young people reach their full potential by creating and supporting initiatives that promote leadership development, academic achievement, positive behavior, healthy lifestyles and social change. She now resides in Brooklyn, New York with her son, Jalen.

“In our society, women can undertake an abundance of tasks related to family, work, and relationships. This event is an opportunity to focus on our health and wellness causes, foster new relationships with likeminded individuals and learn new techniques and methods to overcome our obstacles,” stated Mayor, Michele Deslisfort.

During the panel, Sharlee Jeter, alongside Mayor Michele Delisfort and Committeewomen Suzette Cavadas, will discuss topics such as, overcoming life’s obstacles, health and wellness and many more. After the panel discussion, there will be a Q & A where guests will be able to ask any questions that they may have.

The panel discussion will begin at 1:30pm and the book signing will begin at 3:00pm.
