[ARCHIVED] 3rd Annual Jazz’d Up for Autism Fundraiser

The Township of Union’s Americans with Disabilities Act Committee held their 3rd Annual Jazz’d Up for Autism Fundraiser on Wednesday, April 24th at Lagar Restaurant.

The evening saluted the committee’s growth and success as they continue to bring more awareness, acceptance, and support to autism throughout Union. This year, guest speaker, Dr. Coleen Vanderbeek from Effective School Solutions, presented on the statistics of the high growth of autism in the state of New Jersey.

“There are hundreds of children, young adults and families throughout Union and the state of New Jersey that are in need of support and guidance” stated Mayor Michele Delisfort and ADA Committee Chairwoman. “Knowing that we have programs such as ESS that are available to assist our youth, both classified and non-classified, achieve better grades makes a dramatic impact in their lives.”

In early March the Committee launched an Autism Awareness Poster Design Contest, open to all school-aged children, where they had the opportunity to design the committee’s 2020 awareness poster that will be displayed in public buildings and businesses. Throughout the night, guests assisted the ADA Committee by voting for their favorite poster design.
