Mayor Michele Delisfort and the Township Committee are proud to announce the inaugural Pride Flag raising Ceremony The ceremony will be held on June 1st at 11:30 AM, followed by the flag raising at 12:00 P.M. by the front steps of the Township Municipal Building, located at 1976 Morris Ave. Union, NJ.
Alongside the Township Committee, Union resident Brian Cave, has volunteered his time to help plan and coordinate the flag raising ceremony.
During the Flag Raising ceremony, GLSEN and Newark Pride, two community organizations will have a table set up so residents can learn more about the community and ask any questions that they may have. Along with the tabling, residents get to enjoy themselves with music and a live DJ.
Following the ceremony, residents are invited to the downtown where various Union Center SID merchants will be offering discounts and promotions. Some participating merchants are; Cioffi’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, Joe’s Place, Lagar Restaurant, Here’s the Story Bookstore, El Chingon Tex-Mex Restaurant, Magic Fountain Union Creamery, Nonies Things, Jammed up Bakery, Van Gogh’s Ear Café, and Norma’s Flowers.
This ceremony kicks off the start to Pride month, which encourages and promotes diversity, tolerance, and inclusiveness, which the Township Committee is committed to stand by.
