[ARCHIVED] Shakespeare in the Park Returns to Rabkin Park, August 1st

Spotlight on Shakespeare in the Park

Shakespeare in the Park will feature production by The Shrewd Mechanicals titled, “Verily, Madly, Thine,” an hour-long play that will focus on the special brand of temporary madness that overtakes people when they fall madly in love.

The Township of Union Recreation Department is proud to present the 3rd Annual Shakespeare in the Park on August 1, at 7:00 P.M at Rabkin Park, located behind Union High School at 1 Swanstrom Pl E, Union, NJ.

Shakespeare in the Park will feature production by The Shrewd Mechanicals titled, “Verily, Madly, Thine,” an hour-long play that will focus on the special brand of temporary madness that overtakes people when they fall madly in love. Verily, Madly Thine will also feature a wonderful array of moments from Shakespeare’s plays as well as a few selections from more contemporary authors who have been inspired by one of Shakespeare’s originals. Verily, Madly Thine also features a delightful sprinkling of music, and in total, these 60 minutes about falling in love will make you fall in love with this delightful and entertaining collection of scenes inhabited by the victims of Cupid’s arrows.

The Shrewd Mechanicals is a tight-knit ensemble of five young professionals, four actors, and a tour manager, who launched a summer touring company last year by The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey.

“I believe it’s important to incorporate the arts into our recreation schedule,” stated Suzette Cavadas, Recreation Commissioner. “This show will be a great opportunity for our residents to see something unique, entertaining, and family-friendly!”

Guest are encouraged to pack a picnic and bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the special performance.
